Forest Pop Star

Leningrad band was upset to see all those pop stars, climbing the stages to defend the Khimki forest (I was promising to write a post about that problem since a long time but I want to understand better the situation to give you the full picture - in few words, eco-friendly people would like to save that forest in the North of Moscow where a highway to St Pete is supposed to be built). All kind of personnalities raised their voices to defend nature but a lot of people believe as well that this publicity helps them to sell more music and come back in the limelight. Realistic or jealous? Now, Sergey Shnourov (Leningrad leader) has got his piece of cake as well.

It's true that russian music industry (and even more pop music) is populated by really attractive girls. Who cares about the music when the boobs are pulsing the beat? But sometimes, you can have good surprises (well, it depends what you're looking for...). Just to make it clear, the first video features one of the most famous bands in Russia and the second a real artist.

Tout n'est pas à jeter. Cette chanson a quelques années déjà mais continue à être fredonnée par pas mal de monde. Un classique. J'ai un petit faible pour ce morceau car c'est le premier que j'ai joué live avec un groupe de potes/collègues il y a deux ans. Je vous raconte la merde pour chanter...de la semoule.

Valeryia, nous sommes plus que satisfaits de voir que tu essaies en vain de faire une carrière internationale. Car, ici, en Russie, on ne veut plus te voir et surtout t'entendre. Faire de la soupe en prétendant que c'est du Madonna, cela ne marche que dans la Russie des années 80. Même ici, la nouvelle génération ne te considère plus depuis bien longtemps. La décision de conquérir l'Angleterre est ta dernière chance et la mode revival-vintage-post soviet est ton seul salut.

Remembering Michael Jackson

This is it...It's over but Michael will be still alive for most of us. In Moscow, the emotion was strong, even more than anywhere else, celebrating one of the pop stars that brought Occident to the country. All week, we've seen white roses at the doors of the American Embassy (Barack is here at the moment, mourning him as well), some big advertising screens were showing some clips of the star in loop in the city, all TV channels were proposing their own MJ programs, the people were talking about him everywhere...

For sure, Michael was not a Stranger in Moscow. RIP.
